Inventory and item status
Understand stock quantities, item status and availability before changing your menu.

Status and quantity
An item’s status and its tracked quantity are separate settings. Status can be active, disabled or out of stock. Quantity records a whole number of zero or more when inventory tracking is enabled.
Track quantity
Enable Track quantity when you want to store an item’s stock quantity. Setting a quantity replaces the current value; adjusting a quantity adds or subtracts from it.
Disabling tracking discards the stored quantity and treats the item as unlimited or untracked. This also applies to its linked modifier.
Linked choices
When an existing item is used as a modifier in another product, the linked choice follows the source item’s inventory and status.
Check where the item is used before changing its stock or availability. A drink may be sold on its own and offered inside several meals.
Order availability
Delivery and pickup availability are controlled independently from the item’s general status.
Recording a stock quantity does not by itself establish how orders, cancellations or refunds deduct or restore stock. Do not rely on automatic adjustments without confirming the behavior for your workflow.
Stock glossary
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Track quantity | Stores an on-hand quantity for the item. |
| Quantity | A whole number of zero or more while tracking is enabled. |
| Disable tracking | Discards the stored quantity and treats stock as unlimited/untracked. |
| Status | Active, disabled or out of stock; separate from quantity. |
| Item-backed modifier | A choice that follows its source item's stock, status, title and price. |
| Cost of goods | Optional preparation cost, separate from stock and sale price. |
Setting versus adjusting
“Set quantity to 30” replaces the amount with 30. “Add 30” adjusts the current amount. Check the current amount first if someone else may be updating stock too.
An item used as a modifier is still edited as the source item. Its linked modifier follows it; do not create a separate stock product or disable modifier use merely to adjust quantity.
Quantity and ordering
Quantity tracking is not yet fully integrated with POS and online ordering. Check stock yourself rather than relying on automatic deductions, reservations or restoration after payments, cancellations and refunds.
Zero quantity, out-of-stock status, disabled status and unavailable delivery/pickup are not interchangeable. Use Track quantity only when you want to record a stock amount. Turning tracking off discards quantity, including for the linked modifier.
