Buy-one-get-one and free-item offers
Choose the gift rule and make clear what customers need to add to their basket.

Choose the gift rule
For the same-item option, qualifying pairs are counted per eligible item. For an any-eligible-item gift, the cheapest qualifying units become free. You can also choose one specific gift item.
For an any-eligible-item offer, customers pay for the higher-priced item and get the lower-priced item free. Two eligible items priced 12 and 8 therefore cost 12 together.
Choose eligible products
Limit the offer to the categories or items you actually want included. With an any-item gift restricted to categories, the gift must come from those same selected categories.
An item outside the selected scope does not qualify simply because it is in the same basket.
Explain the basket requirements
Customers must add both the qualifying items and the gift items to their basket. A free-item offer also requires its gift item to be present.
State the purchase and gift quantities clearly in the offer description, along with any minimum spend, dates or customer-segment conditions.
Three gift modes
| Mode | Which products form the offer? |
|---|---|
| Same item | Pairs are counted for each eligible product, including quantities split across differently configured basket lines. |
| Any eligible item | Both purchase and gift must be within the offer's eligible products or categories; the cheapest eligible units become free. |
| Another gift item | The gift is the specific selected product. |
Scope can be all items, selected categories or selected items. A category-scoped any-item offer uses those same selected categories for purchase and gift. Switching gift mode should not change unrelated dates, minimum spend, segment or other eligibility rules.
Worked price example
Two eligible items priced 12 and 8 cost 12 together: customers pay for the higher-priced item and receive the lower-priced one free. An item outside the selected scope cannot form the pair. A same-item offer instead needs the required quantity of that eligible product.
Customers must add both qualifying and gifted units to the basket. Checkout does not add gifts automatically. A free-item offer likewise requires the gift product in the basket.
Conditions still apply
Active status alone is insufficient. The offer must also match dates, hours, location, currency, minimum spend, customer segment, eligible products, promotion-code requirements, caps and stacking rules. Only within delivery zones can restrict this reward too; pickup or out-of-zone delivery then fails that condition.
