Balances, fees and payouts

Understand the difference between sales, available funds and transfers.

Available and pending balances

A settlement balance can include available and pending amounts. Read the specific balance measure and currency shown instead of combining different currencies into one total.

A settlement balance describes funds in the payment settlement process; it is separate from the restaurant’s bank-account balance.

Fees and merchant net

Net customer payments subtract refunds from captured customer payments. Merchant net can additionally account for fees and lost disputes.

If fee information is missing, a complete net figure cannot be established by treating the missing amount as zero.

Payouts

A payout moves funds. It is not a new sale and should not be added to customer payments when calculating sales.

Compare the payout with its own status and records, keeping its timing separate from when the customer originally paid.

Ask for a clear comparison

For a balance or payout question, include the location, currency and period where relevant. Ask for available or pending funds explicitly if that is the measure you need.

If a known synchronization problem affects a result, review the available update information before relying on it.

Available and pending settlement

The settlement balance is the restaurant-attributed balance used by the balance dashboard. Available and pending amounts are different. Pending settlement is not a count or amount of pending payment attempts. Availability dates are estimates; check any warnings or missing-information notes shown with them.

The payout schedule is organization-wide even when the displayed balance is attributed to one location. If the payment account is not connected, the balance and payout schedule are unavailable rather than zero.

Payouts and sales

A payout moves funds; it is not additional revenue. A settlement balance is not the restaurant's bank-account balance. Gross or net sales, delivery schedules and automatic order acceptance cannot answer an available-funds or payout-schedule question.

A payout request is distinct from completed transfer or arrival. Existing holds and unsettled activity can affect availability. Use the timing shown for your payout; a request does not guarantee a particular bank-arrival date.

Currency, mode and freshness

Keep available and pending balances separate by currency and retain the applicable test/live context. Check the last update and any synchronization error before relying on the figure. Missing or partial data does not mean the balance is zero.
